| I myself am a graduate
of L'Anse High School. I attended Michigan Technological
University and graduated from there with a bachelor's
degree in Biological Sciences. I obtained employment
with a major corporation where I stayed for five years.
The corporate world was not my calling and I returned to
MTU and obtained my secondary teaching certification. I
have been employed by L'Anse Area Schools since the fall
of 1999. I teach AP Biology, Biology and
Physiology/Anatomy. I love teaching these classes and
really enjoy the students I have every year. It's great
to get a student in biology of sophomore year and watch
their knowledge grow each year as they progress through
life science courses I teach. Outside of school my
biggest past time (other than my family) is riding and
showing my horses. I am also currently working on my
master's degree in biological sciences from Michigan
Tech. |

My teaching career at L'Anse High has focused mainly on English- British literature, American literature, writing and speech. However, over the years I have also taught science, health and language arts. During the summer months I enjoy training and showing our quarter horses, and spending time with our grandchildren. |

| I, John Jacobson, have

During this time I have taught special education and
psychology at the high school level. I have also stayed
as active as possible as a volunteer varsity football
coach. I feel very fortunate to be able to live here in
L'Anse, where I graduated from high school. I enjoy
spending time in the woods and riding 4 wheelers with my
5 year son (Yes, he does have his own four wheeler).
This year I am teaching psychology first hour which is
good for me because I enjoy starting my day with
lectures and in-depth conversations with the students;
It really keeps me motivated. This is only the second
year I have taught a regular education class and I enjoy
it. We have a lot of good, positive students in the high
school and teaching definitely brings out the best in
me. |
