TOM SPRAGUE, Elementary Principal
I was born in Missouri but grew up in Texas. I moved to the Upper Peninsula
8 years ago with my wife and son. My bachelor's degree is from Texas A&M
University (Animal Science) and my teaching certificate if from the University
of Texas at Tyler. I also hold a Michigan teaching certificate and a Masters
degree from the Northern Michigan University in Administration and Supervision.
This is my 6th year as principal and the 14th year in education.

Good Day! My name is Risa Williamson. I am the K-8 School Guidance Counselor for
CJ Elementary and the Middle Schools. I grew up in Green Bay, WI. I received a
bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in coaching through the University
of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. I moved up to the UP to work in the mental health
field. I fell in love with this area and it suits me well. I made the switch to
education when I worked at the ISD as a Behavioral Consultant. At that time, I
went to NMU to pursue my Master's degree in Education - School Guidance
Counseling. I have 5 years experience with School Counseling from another
district. During my free time, I love spending time with my daughter, golfing,
softball, and relaxing. My husband is a Houghton native and we have one
daughter. We live in Houghton.
MARY RAJALA, Secretary

Employed by the L'Anse Area Schools since the early 90's, my career began
as a "fill-in" secretary, then moved to a scheduled position as Finnish
Bilingual Instructor for seven yrs. I then transferred to the Title I Department
and worked as a paraprofessional primarily in Literacy, having been trained in
several diagnostic evaluations. August of 2010 my transition to Elementary
Secretary began where I hope to stay until my retirement. Having an
associates degree and longevity experiences in various secretarial fields,
I really enjoy my work and being around our students and staff at L'Anse
Area Schools. My husband Jim and I have raised 4 children all graduates
of this District. We enjoy traveling, the outdoors and being involved in
family events.
